# Reports

Report a catalog entry, listing or model file that is wrong, and what happens next: automatic hiding, moderation and the audit log.

## What you can report

Anyone signed in can report three kinds of things:

Model files that ship with the app can't be reported this way.

## Sending a report

1. Select **Report**.
2. Say what is wrong in a sentence or two. The reason is required, and is kept to 1,000 characters.
3. Confirm. You'll see "Reported. A maintainer will look at it."

Reports aren't public. You can send up to 20 reports an hour.

If something is merely out of date, such as a price, contributors can fix it directly: add a **New price** or a stock report to the listing, or start a **New revision** of an entry in their namespace. See [Authoring parts](https://rack-maker.cbnsndwch.dev/docs/catalog/authoring#listings).

## Hidden after reports

When three different people have open reports on the same entry, listing or model file, it is hidden straight away, until a moderator looks at it. What hiding does:

- **An entry** leaves the catalog list and the **Parts** palette, so nobody new picks it. Projects that already use it keep working and keep showing it. Its page stays, marked **hidden**.
- **A listing** disappears from the entry's **Where to get it** card and from quotes.
- **A model file** is no longer served. Parts drawn from it are drawn as plain boxes instead, and the Credits page marks it **taken down**.

## Moderation

The site's admins moderate. Open reports appear in the **Reports** card of their **Pending work** panel on [the catalog page](https://rack-maker.cbnsndwch.dev/catalog), with the reason and a link to what was reported. For each, they either:

- **Hide** it (or keep it hidden), or
- **Dismiss** the report, when nothing needs to change.

One decision closes every open report on the same thing. A moderator can also hide an entry directly, and restore something that was hidden.

## The audit log

Every change to the catalog is recorded with who made it and when: drafts created and deleted, revisions submitted, published and rejected, model files uploaded, listings added, reports sent, hiding and restoring, and decisions on contributor requests. Admins can read the log to see what happened to an entry and why. It isn't public.
